My name is Melissa and I encountered my greatest obstacle when I was only 5 years old. When I was 5, I was diagnosed with skin cancer. I don’t really remember much of what had happened, but I do remember being weak, really sick, and losing all of my hair. As I grew up, the cancer and chemotherapy stunted my growth, so now I stand at a whopping 4’11”. To this day I still have to get many tests done to be confident that the cancer is non-existent, but sometimes when they find something that could possibly develop into cancer they dig into my skin and take it out without anesthetics. Today I am proud to say I am cancer free, and I am proud of what I have accomplished and overcome. I now work for Epic to help others take care of themselves and educate people about their health.
